Finally the much awaited for monsoon session of the parliament has begun, and as was expected it was adjourned following several disruptions on account of the proposed statehood of Telangana. Let's see how it further proceeds. We're told by the media that the much debated (in media and cocktail circuits of South-Delhi of course) "Food Security Bill" which has been introduced to the parliament by the route of an ordinance, will be debated from tomorrow. I'm not going to argue either the legality of the way it has been introduced to the parliament or the further potential slowdown it will cause to the growth of the Indian economy.
Why would anyone oppose the #FSB? No one will want to let those thousands of poor die of hunger! Still people do! Let's figure out why?
- As has been pointed out by some prominent economists, the country's economy is not in a state to bear the expenses of such a welfare scheme!
- As some others argue, there is no such thing called a free lunch in this world! You have to earn it. #FSB will discourage self-esteem!!
- Some say that it'll just open the floodgates of yet another massive scam and hence such schemes shouldn't be implemented! Fair enough.
- Some say that it's a bribe offered by the congress party to get votes of poor as UPA-2 has done nothing except scams! Well that can be so!
However I wouldn't have heeded to any such above mentioned reason provided it didn't diminish my basic argument, and have yet supported it!
Let's just ask a simple question to all those enthusiasts who do overtime to promote and validate the #FSB! Let's see what they answer! Ask this to Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Digvijay Singh, Ajay Maken, Amartya Sen, Manish Tewari, Sanjay Jha and all the other vocal advocates of the #FSB and make them answer! Don't forget to include those Rs 12 Babbars, Rs 5 Masoods and Re 1 Abdullahs!! Make them answer as well.

- Will any of them consider eating the same food grains which they intend to give away to the poor of India in the name of #FSB?
- Will any of them ever consider eating #MidDayMeal ?
People die of hunger, true! So now you want them to die for filling their stomachs with the food which is hardly edible? Is this the plan?
If so I must say that let them meet their fate, and for heaven sake don't attempt this charity! We, as a country, are screwed enough! Spare us and let us fight against all the odds. We have the calibre to beat you in your very own game! That's perhaps why you're scared of us. LBS couldn't rule this country for a long time!! But the history's all set to rectify its blunder! An outsider has already risen! Yeah I'm talking about that tea vendor's son who has become the elected CM of a state and is now a frontrunner in the race of PM! The change is bound to happen! With you, without you or despite you! Choose your positions. Choice is yours! But you'll have to face it. All changes are not necessarily good, but then what is left to be termed good which is still happening to us? Love to be killed by our man!
As if we don't know shortcomings of the existing PDS, the quality of food-grain being distributed through it and rampant corruption. Has the poor been benefitted by PDS at all? If the answer to this question is at least 70% in affirmative, we should march ahead with this proposed #FSB. Sadly it is not the case. Hence I don't think that it'll make any difference to the poor. Even the very definition of poverty line is subject to a separate debate.
